Heres a strange recipe the writers and director of Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class have teamed with the director of Shakespeare in Love to remake an Israeli film. There are no superheroes and not one soliloquy instead there are great performances from Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain and Tom Wilkinson. The story jumps back-and-forth between 1965 and 1997 and revolves around an Israeli secret mission to capture a Nazi war criminal the plot thickens and lies are told that come to the surface 30 years later. The story could be pulled tighter for tension and theres a love triangle that never gets fully developed, but Mirren is masterful. Wilkinsons acting always a lit fuse and he sparks every scene hes in. The debt is paid worth a watch.
