BARTENDER | Robi Henry, 32
WHERE | Banditos Restaurant and Cantina
QUESTION | Where you from?
ANSWER | Omaha, Neb. I've also lived in Key West and California.
How did you end up here?
I was back in Omaha working. I had a friend in California and a friend here...I packed up my car and flipped a coin.
How long will you stay here until you flip another coin?
Honestly, I don't know. I'll be here until a coin needs to be flipped, I guess.
Where is your next road trip?
Last week I would have said Austin, Texas...but this week I'll say Ohio. There is someone there I have to visit.
Do you know your way around the bedroom as well as you know your way around the bar?
I honestly think one makes me better at the other.
What's the tattoo on your the arm?
It actually starts on my chest. It's a three-headed Celtic dragon. It's supposed to scare away evil spirits.
How many tattoos do you have?
If you have to count them you don't have enough. It's a mess under there...I have them all over.
You refer to liquor as spirits...how many tequila shots until the "spirits" talk to you?
It depends on the ladies who are next to me.
Do you prefer to be called a bartender or a mixologist?
I'm a bartender. A mixologist is over-thinking it.
So you're writing a book about your bartending experiences...have any events in Myrtle Beach made it on the pages so far?
They will, so yes.
Who are some of your writing influences?
Charles Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson, David Sedaris and Anthony Bourdain.
What's your idea of fun?
I hate crowds. I'm outdoorsy...I like sitting around campfires with good friends.
Why should patrons come see you?
Why shouldn't they come see me?
Mandy Rodgers, for Weekly Surge
Rosangel (Rosangel Tequila, Signature Skinny Margarita Mix, splash orange juice, pinch cinnamon)
