THE LOWDOWN | A drink and some food for less than five bucks. That's what you can find at Niki's Bar & Grille during happy hour, so that's where we went this week.

Niki's Bar & Grille was previously the Gator Island Grill and Sports Pub in the heart of Socastee. You'll still find some of the same staff and same regulars. It's a friendly locals joint where everyone gets along. You can watch sports, eat food, sip drinks and play pool and darts.

There's a bar area, table area and outdoor seating area. You can catch occasional live music, usually on Saturdays. Inside there are about a dozen TVs. Niki's has the NFL Ticket and during games on Sundays you can get buckets of five domestic beers for $10.

That's not the only drink deal you'll find at Niki's Bar & Grille. All day everyday you can get $2 Kentucky Gentleman. Tuesday night is Ladies Night. That means ladies get $2 house liquors and everyone gets $1 shots. During Thirsty Thursdays, you can snag $2 clear house liquors.

Niki's offers dinner specials throughout the week. Monday is pasta night. Tuesday is Mexican night. Wednesday you can get a deal on pork chips, Thursday on BBQ and Friday is seafood night. Find more food deals during happy hour.

Happy hour runs from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. daily. Select appetizers including nachos, chips and salsa, chicken bites, spinach dip and mac-and-cheese bites are $2.99 during happy hour. Drink specials include $1.50 domestic draft beers, $2 domestic bottles, $3 house liquors and $3 margaritas.
