A Weekly Review of The Strand’s Happy Hour Scene

October 17, 2012

THE LOCALE | Danny's Bar & Grill

THE LOWDOWN | There's a new sports bar in town, and that's exactly where we went for happy hour this week, to Danny's Bar & Grill.

Danny's Bar & Grill is a new neighborhood sports bar off Fantasy Harbour Blvd. where Quincy's Family Steakhouse used to be. It's a relaxed atmosphere filled with mostly locals, some who live in the area, others who stop by after seeing the new sign.

Danny's Bar & Grill is a large open room and its back wall is lined with mirrors, making the it seem even bigger. There are more than 20 TVs throughout the establishment so you can watch sports from anywhere you sit. You can choose to be belly-up to the large square bar in the center of the room. It seats a few dozen. There are also a number of high-top tables scattered throughout the establishment.

Patrons can play pool on five pool tables, or try their hand at darts. If you're more interested in exercising your taste buds, the menu includes crab cakes, shrimp, Tex-Mex dishes, sandwiches, burgers, salads and appetizers such as mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and chicken fingers.

Happy hour runs daily from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Drink specials include $2 draft beers and $2.50 house liquors. You can also get half-price select appetizers during happy hour. Wednesday is college night with deals including $2 vodkas and $2 draft beer. And all day everyday you can snag 99-cent beers.
