A Weekly Review of The Strand’s Happy Hour Scene

December 4, 2012

THE LOCALE | R&R Bar & Grill

THE LOWDOWN | Everyone needs a little rest and relaxation. That's the motto at R&R Bar and Grill, where you can do just that. That's where we went for happy hour this week.

R&R Bar and Grill is located in the former building that housed Angelo's Steak and Pasta restaurant (which moved down the street.) R&R Bar and Grill is a large wide open establishment with a bar area and lots of pool tables. Ten to be exact, with eight in the main room and two in a side room. Darts, foosball, and video games such as bowling and golf are also available. You can also enter pool leagues or play Trivia on Thursdays.

You can also catch live entertainment at R&R Bar and Grill on weekends and karaoke on Wednesdays. That takes place in a separate room in back with a stage and tables. That entertainment venue can also be used as a private banquet room for private parties including wedding parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, holiday parties or meetings. R&R Bar and Grill can provide a band or DJ as well as food for your party, and there's no fee to book and use the room.

Speaking of food, R&R Bar and Grill offers a large menu filled with what could be considered gourmet bar food. It includes a wide variety of made-to-order burgers, salads and sandwiches. Each day you can get a $5 daily food specials. On Mondays, it's a meatball sub, Tuesdays are tacos, and Wednesdays are Pulled Pork Sammy Sandwiches. On Thursdays you can snag burgers for five bucks, Saturdays it’s quesadillas, and Sundays, sliders.

Appetizers include seared tuna nachos and mushroom parmesan, and you can snag those appetizers at 25 percent discount during happy hour, which starts at 4 p.m. daily. Drink specials include $2.50 house drinks, $4 martinis, $4 call drinks and $3 house wine. All-day drink deals include $2 domestic beer and $2.50 vodka.

TIPS | R&R Bar and Grill serves food until midnight. The establishment is non-smoking during dining hours. Check Facebook for upcoming events and live entertainment.
