“THE HOBBIT” (PG-13): Director Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings”) returns to Middle Earth with this first installment in a $500 million trilogy of films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel. Martin Freeman is the young Bilbo Baggins who accompanies the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and a gang of dwarves on a series of adventures. Shot in 3D and 48 fps, which essentially doubles the resolution of normal 35mm film.
