BARTENDER | Jennie Overstreet, 27
WHERE | Nalu's Beach Bar, Garden City Beach
QUESTION | So you just moved here from New Jersey. What brought you to the area?
ANSWER | I want to teach, and I feel like this is an area that needs good teachers.
What grade would you like to teach?
High school because I would like to coach lacrosse.
So is lacrosse your biggest passion?
Yes. Lacrosse is such a big passion of mine. Playing in college was such a great experience and after college I got to go to Jamaica for a tournament. I hope to be able to share that passion with students here.
What's the coolest thing you've done in Myrtle Beach so far?
T.I.G.E.R.S. Preserve. The full tour. I'd like to go back and swim with the tigers because it was really neat.
What was your favorite animal there?
Tigers. I'm a tiger fan. I have a tattoo of a tiger on my shoulder. They have baby tigers there, too.
What are some of your other tattoos?
On one ankle I have the Scorpio symbol, which is my Zodiac sign. On my other ankle is my sister's sign - Virgo. It's just coincidence that they look almost alike, because we are at opposite ends of the spectrum
when it comes to personality. She's more quiet and calm... I'm more energetic and outgoing.
Would you rather be a flawless pop-and-lock dancer but not be able to feed yourself, or be a Hollywood stuntman who has to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes?
I think I could pop-and-lock on the streets and make some money.
What's the latest decision you made by flipping a coin?
What bar to apply to when I moved down here.
Are you glad the coin picked Nalu's?
Yes, very happy with the decision. I was looking for the happy, carefree energy and beach life that this bar provides.
Have you ever been surfing?
I have not, but I really want to try paddle boarding. But paddle boards are expensive so I'll have to work hard this summer.
If you had a magic talking toilet seat as a best friend, what activities would you play together?
We would play games like "Guess what I'm putting in your bowl."
Have you ever used one of those toilets that has buttons to vibrate, heat the seat and spray water?
No, but I know what you're talking about. I guess that'd be nice to have a warm toilet seat. Well, warm from someone else would be creepy. But warm from a heater would be good.
What would you like Surge readers to know about you?
I'm just happy, outgoing and looking forward to bartending at the beach. Come see me!
