THE LOCALE | Angelo's Steak & Pasta
THE LOWDOWN | Angelo's Steak & Pasta recently moved into a new, larger location three blocks south of the former location. The sign still boasts that Angelo’s has "Greatest Steaks in the Universe," but we are more interested in the new bar, so that's where we went for happy hour this week.
Angelo's Steak & Pasta is already known for its steaks - selling 85,000 of them a year. Now the eatery wants people to know about the bar... a much bigger bar. The bar at the old location held eight. Now, more than 80 people can fit in the bar area at Angelo's. In fact, the entire establishment is much larger and seats hundreds more than the prior location.
There are a few large dining areas for patrons to enjoy their food, be it the steaks or the all-you-can-eat Italian buffet. Some of those patrons stick around after their meal for a drink at the bar; others come to Angelo's for the bar area alone. The large 80-foot square bar is surrounded by high top tables on one side and booths on the other. There are a handful of TVs and a small stage where musicians play live music. For example, you can hear jazz on Wednesdays and Sundays. Magician Michael Bairefoot also roams around the restaurant, going table to table with his impressive magic tricks.
Happy hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m. daily. Drink deals include $3 domestic beers, $3 wines, $3 liquors and $3 appetizers such as bruschetta, fried ravioli and meatball sliders.
