THE LOCALE | Anchor Cafe at Grande Dunes

THE LOWDOWN | It's just about perfect weather to go sit and enjoy an open-air bar. Well that's what you can do at the Anchor Cafe, and as a bonus, you can enjoy appetizer and drink specials before the sun sets. That's where we went this week for happy hour.

The Anchor Cafe sits on the Intracoastal Waterway next to the Marina Inn at the Grande Dunes Marina. You can watch the boats go by, dream about owning a boat, or maybe you even came by boat. If so, there is a place for you to dock, and someone will even pump your gas.

Anchor Cafe is a relaxing place where mostly locals and boaters hang out to enjoy tasty food and beverages while they soak up the beautiful view of the waterway. You can also soak up the sun by sitting at a table on the outdoor balcony. If you prefer the shade, there are plenty of tables underneath the roof, as well as bar stools at the square bar.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays. Drink deals include $3 well drinks, $3 wine and $2.50 draft beers. Appetizer specials, known as "Happ-i-tizers", include reduced prices on ahi tuna, quesadillas, hot wings, nachos and more.

TIPS | Anchor Cafe is located at the Grande Dunes Marina off U.S.17 Bypass North and you'll have to walk across a bridge to get to the cafe.

FIND IT | 8121 Amalfi Place, Myrtle Beach. Call 315-7855 or visit www.marinainnatgrandedunes.com.
