  • More information

SIGNATURE DRINK | Jamaican Punch (mango, pina colada and rum)

BARTENDER | Kim Sedeska

WHERE | The Surf Diner, Surfside Beach Pier

QUESTION | When's the last time you've been surfing?

ANSWER | Never.

Why?

I'm afraid of sharks.

Have you ever seen a shark swim by while working here?

Oh yeah. Lots of sharks, but lots more dolphins.

So do you enter the ocean at all

Yeah, but just knee-deep.

Do you think surfers are crazy to surf by the pier - also a.k.a. the shark feeding ground?

Yes!

If confronted with a shark in the water, what would you do?

I hope that would never happen, but I would swim away as fast as I could! Or run!

You guys play oldies songs here… what's your favorite oldies song?

“Crazy” by Patsy Cline.

Aside from working at Surf Diner (and avoiding sharks during your off-time) what else do you do?

I'm a mom of five children and a wife, and I work part-time at a preschool.

Do your kids love the ocean, or are they scared of sharks, too?

They love the ocean and they aren't scared of anything. My oldest child (age 11) is just learning to surf, actually.

Have you ever gone fishing?

We fish on the pier quite a bit. Well, I do more spectating, but my family fishes.

What's the most impressive thing someone has caught?

I would have to say the neatest thing I saw was a stingray with a five-foot wing span.

Have you ever caught a shark?

Many, yes. Just baby ones.

And your reaction?

Well, the little ones, they're harmless. And we just throw them back.

What would you like Surge readers to know about this bar?

It's a little hidden spot, perfect for everyone. Music is great and everyone is in a great mood.
