Exploring happy hour at new Asian bistro in Myrtle Beach

June 26, 2013

THE LOCALE | Explore Asian Bistro & Grill

THE LOWDOWN | If you like to explore new places, then you may want to head over to the new Explore Asian Bistro & Grill. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

Explore Bistro & Grill is located on U.S. 501 near Carolina Forest across from Tanger Outlets in the building that used to house the Japanese restaurant Ichiro’s. So far, mostly locals frequent the establishment. It has a low-key atmosphere and lounge music plays in the background.

Explore has a long bar that seats more than a dozen people. The bar area is separated from the dining area by a glowing water/bubble wall. The wall behind the bar glows, too, with tints including orange and yellow. There are a handful of flat panel screen TVs in the bar area as well as some low-top tables.

Happy Hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drink deals include $2 drafts, $2 liquor and $3 wine. You can get half-price select sushi rolls and 15 percent discount on hibachi grill items.

TIPS | Explore’s menu has a mix of Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines. The restaurant offers lunch and sushi deals from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

FIND IT | 4545 U.S. 501, Myrtle Beach. Call 817-8400 or visit ExploreAsianBistro.com.
