THE LOWDOWN | If you are looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a drink and perhaps some ethnic food, Athena’s Bar & Grill is your place. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

You’ll find Athena’s Bar & Grill on Broadway Street in downtown Myrtle Beach where The Little Brazil used to be. Athena’s is a Filipino cafe offering traditional cuisine from the Philippines such as lumpia (crunchy spring rolls) to American favorites such a cheeseburgers and fries.

It’s a small, quaint establishment and a place where locals go to relax and enjoy a meal and a drink. You can sit at one of several low-top tables or at the small bar in the back. The light green walls have a few pieces of artwork. It is locally-owned and a family-friendly business.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Drink deals include $2 domestic beers and $2 well drinks. You can also snag appetizers for four bucks.

TIPS | Athena’s Bar & Grill offers free delivery.
