Frozen dreams make Myrtle Beach Boardwalk spot a Happy Hour Heaven

THE LOCALE | Hurricanes Daiquiri Bar & Grill

THE LOWDOWN | While strolling along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk we stumbled upon an establishment that has what is quite possibly the cheapest happy hour along those planks. We stopped in for a drink at Hurricanes Daiquiri Bar & Grill, our happy hour destination for this week.

You'll find Hurricanes Daiquiri Bar & Grill on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk next to the Gay Dolphin where Boardwalk Bills used to be located. The front is lined with windows that offer an excellent view of the ocean. You can sit outside to enjoy that ocean breeze, or you can snag a table or bar stool inside.

Hurricanes Daiquiri Bar & Grill is bright and colorful, each wall painted a different color such as purple, green and orange. Flat panel TVs hang throughout the establishment, and you can check out live music during the summer.

Behind the S-shaped marble bar you'll see a number of frozen daiquiri machines. They are Fat Tuesday brand daiquiris and the Hurricane daiquiri is a popular drink choice. The Hurricane Burger, with jalapenos and pepper jack cheese, is a popular menu choice. Other popular food items include grouper and crab cakes.

You can cash in on reduced appetizer prices during happy hour, which runs from 4 to 7p.m. daily. Deals include $3 mozzarella sticks, $3 fried pickles, $5 wings and $5 conch fritters. Drink specials include $4 12-oz. daiquiris, $2 domestic beers, $3 house liquors and $3 house wines.

TIPS | Parking downtown is free in the off-season. During the summer you can park in the Gay Dolphin parking lot for five bucks.

FIND IT | 910 North Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach. Call 232-7110.
