THE LOWDOWN | Golf fanatics may have already noticed the new bar in the Boardwalk Plaza along S.C. 544 in the Socastee area. It's called Tee Box Tavern, and that's where we went for happy hour this week.

As you may imagine, Tee Box Tavern is a golf-themed neighborhood establishment where locals and golfers hang out. Classic car fans also head there once a month for cruise-ins.

It is laid-back and non-smoking, and a place where people can enjoy a meal or a drink. There are a number of low-top tables scattered throughout the

establishment and a small bar in the back. You can watch one of the flat screen TVs or even play shuffleboard.

Happy hour runs 4-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Drink deals include $10 domestic beer buckets and 50-cent discounts on well drinks and wine, making well drinks $3 and wine $2.75. You can always snag $2 domestic beers and $2 pints.

Starting next week you can also take $2 discounts on appetizer prices during happy hour on items such as wings, grouper fingers and the heaping nacho platter.

TIPS | Check out the comedy and dinner show coming up at 6 p.m. March 6. Call for reservations.
