THE LOWDOWN | If you enjoy live music, playing pool, or just a cold beer, you may want to stop by Red Neck Yacht Club in Little River... No boat required. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

Red Neck Yacht Club took over the former location of the Scoreboard Sports Bar on U.S. 17 in Little River. A few boat pictures hang on the blue walls and a handful of TVs hang throughout the establishment. The pub’s motto is: "High class but not high dollar."

Patrons belly-up to a square bar with red leather bar seats and others choose to grab a spot at one of the glass high-top tables. There are a couple pool tables and the bar hosts pool tournaments.

The atmosphere is mellow during the day but energy cranks up at night. There’s live entertainment every Friday night by local and national performers.

Happy hour starts at 4 p.m. daily. Drink deal include $2.50 domestic beers and $3 well drinks. Plus you can get a chicken sandwich for five bucks.

TIPS | On Wednesday nights in April the bar will host open mike nights for bands to perform. Check Web site for upcoming bands and live entertainment.
