That’s Going to Leave a Mark

Drive-by with a pellet gun? That’s not something you hear about too often.

Myrtle Beach police responded to the 1900 block of South Kings Highway late in the evening of April 12 after getting a report that a man had been shot in the face with a pellet gun while shooting basketball with his cousin, according to the incident report.

The two were playing hoops when a Ford Explorer carrying four other people reportedly drove by. One of the people inside the vehicle started firing the BB gun several times in the direction of the basketball players, the report stated.

The victim told police he quickly felt one hit him in the face. Authorities reported he had a small bruise on his left cheek.

We see drive-by shootings depicted in the movies a lot, and imagine that if BB guns were used instead, these films would get PG-13 ratings.

Bring in Your Valuables

We’ve got dogs, and have learned the hard way that you don’t leave your valuable possessions within their reach.

That same thinking goes to leaving valuables inside your car. We don’t always have the most honest citizens living amongst us, as this poor guy can attest to.

Myrtle Beach police responded to the 700 block of Frontage Road East in the afternoon of April 12 after a man reported his truck had been broken into while it was sitting in the parking lot.

Taken was the man’s pistol from the left door pocket, according to the incident report.

Let us again encourage everyone to bring in any and all valuables. A locked car isn’t quite as secure as, say, Fort Knox.

Wait, what?

We haven’t quite been able to deduce just what these two were fighting over, and our brains hurt trying to figure it out.

Myrtle Beach police responded to a laundromat in the 6000 block of North Kings Highway on April 10 in response to an assault.

A man told authorities a woman started hitting him repeatedly in the head, according to the incident report. He had no visible injuries to his head and refused to be seen by EMS.

Police spoke with the woman, who reportedly said she was inside doing laundry when she saw the man outside doing “language,” the report stated. She went outside and started arguing with him about some property he had at her home. That’s when the fists started to swing, allegedly.

What is “doing language?” Are we talking profanity here? Speaking in Portugese? Trying to communicate via charades?

Another gem from this alleged bruiser was telling police, “I did my thing,” according to the report.

A warrant was filed with the Clerk of Court third-degree assault and battery, the report stated.

Now, if someone could clue us in to what, exactly, “language” means.

Bring Out Your Guns!

One guy has his gun stolen; another guy gets arrested for illegally selling one.

Did we mention the suspect was a Berkley County Sheriff’s deputy?

Tony Allen Riley was charged on April 14 with two counts of selling a firearm to a prohibited person, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.

Riley was employed as a Berkley County Sheriff’s Office deputy at the time of the alleged crime, after having previously retired as a sheriff’s office captain.

If he is found guilty of the charges, Riley could be fined $250,000 and/or land in jail for 10 years on each count.

Be careful who you sell your weapons to. Oh wait, probably better to let a licensed professional handle all gun sales. Just a thought.

Clint Eastwood Would Be Proud

We like this guy!

A man who was the victim of an attempted robbery early in the morning on April 13 was able to successfully fight back against his three attackers.

Two of the assailants were said to be carrying two-by-fours, according to the incident report.

The fight took place on Robert Grissom Parkway, near Mr. Joe White Avenue, in Myrtle Beach. One of the men told the victim to give him his money. When the victim said no, that’s when the fight started. He was hit in the ribs by one of the pieces of wood, and in the back with another, the report stated.

But our guy didn’t go down. He then reportedly hit one of the robbers in the throat, hit another one in the knee and the slammed the third one in the chest, the report stated.

The three fled at that point. The victim was taken to the hospital to get Xrays for any injuries. He was eventually discharged, according to the report.

First beer’s on us, buddy!
