Our readers have spoken and, it's a drag.
Or rather The Drag, the onetime Britpop-influenced local rock act that signed a deal with Island Records in the mid-90s.
It seems our readers would rather see The Drag perform a local reunion concert than another local rock outfit that also enjoyed a national recording contract, Echo 7, which you can see Saturday at The Brickhouse Lounge.
In our latest Trash or Smash poll, 72 percent of respondents preferred to see The Drag. For a breakdown of results, see the pie chart below.

Why is it that your computers never have a B drive?

There's a new drinking game sweeping the nation: every time a presidential candidate utters the words "change," "unity," "country first'' or "service" you have to slug one down.

Okay, so this isn't New York or L.A., or even Miami or Chicago.
But there's still plenty going on along the Grand Strand that doesn't involve Calabash seafood and country line dancing. So we don't want to hear "I'm so bored - there's nothing to do around here!"
Here's something cool to do: two exhibits featuring paintings and sculpture, and running in conjunction with the South Carolina Watermedia Society's Annual Exhibit, will open on Saturday at Brookgreen Gardens.
The exhibits - "Heroes and Hoof Beats: The Horse in Art'' and "Flights of Fantasy: The Artistic Bird '' - feature a combination of Brookgreen Gardens' sculptures along with paintings by watermedia society artists from the Palmetto State, The Tarheel State, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Both exhibits, on display at Brookgreen's Rainey Sculpture Pavilion, will run through Nov. 2 and are included in the attraction's regular admission.
And speaking of admission, it is $12 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12, and free for tykes five and younger.
Brookgreen Gardens is located across from Huntington Beach State Park off U.S. 17 S., between Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island. For more information, visit www.brookgreen.org or call 235-6000.

Weekly Surge beats the street each week to gauge the pulse of our community. This week we asked:
what do you think about the recent proposal by national college presidents to lower the legal drinking age to 18; a good idea? Bad idea? What should the legal drinking age be?
Tony Clemente, 26,Myrtle Beach
"Stay at 21 - there are enough stupid people on the road already."
Keith Jacobs, 36,Myrtle Beach
"I believe if you are an adult and can serve in the military at 18 then you should be able to drink. The real issue is not drinking, but responsible drinking."
